A Message of Reassurance to the World Concerning the Rumored Fish Rebellion

Dear readers,

I am writing today about the rumored fish rebellion that was instigated by a threatening message posted on our own blog recently.

These rumors are true.

Now before anyone starts screaming "2012" and jumping of bridges to escape the destruction of the world--don't.
We have everything under control.

No, seriously, we have everything under control. Don't jump. Do not...do we really seem THAT incompetent?

Our top chefs are working on a seafood banquet right now.

Oh, come on! I don't even like seafood! Why couldn't it be an invasion by steak and mashed potatoes?

So don't worry. The end of the world will not be from these fish.

Though I can't make any promises about that whole 2010 business...maybe it'll be the bunnies who finally overcome us.

Love,
Island Queen

My Baking Experiences

Today was a snow day (which is ridiculous, because it barely snowed...in fact, it's raining now...I suspect that the superintendent REALLY didn't want to come to work today). I decided to spend the morning baking.
Well, not exactly. My mother forced me to spend the day baking. When I said that I wanted biscuits for breakfast this morning, but that there were none, I was hinting that we go buy some kind of breakfastly food. My mother mis-interpreted this, and made me find a recipe online for buttermilk biscuits. I wasn't too keen on the idea, because I'm not generally very good at baking.
Last time I baked something, this happened.
But I baked anyway, just because I love my mother very much. Also because I was hungry, and my house was sadly devoid of food.
And the house didn't catch on fire (or, it hasn't yet...)
After I made the dough, I searched for the two-inch cutter that the recipe called for, but I didn't have any.
So I had to use my halloween pumpkin cookie cutter.
Yes, I made pumpkin-shaped biscuits and had them for breakfast.

Okay, they weren't exactly this neat, but you get the picture.

Actually, I kind of had them for lunch, since, by the time I was done, it was 12:00....

A fascinating little conversation I had with Diamond Giver...the names are bleeped out to avoid stalkers, obviously.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

I thought that there should be some kind of celebratory post for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Thanks for the day off! And equality too.

I have a pretty great tradition for MLK Day, here on the island. I celebrate equality and Martin Luther King Jr. day by eating equal amounts of dark, milk, and white chocolate. It reminds me of the importance of equality in our daily lives.

Also, it's chocolate.
Cookies work too, especially chocolate chip, because they are a mix of the dough and the chips. I suppose those black-and-white cookies work too, though I think that they are more racist than anything, because they separate the black and the white. In fact, I call them racist cookies.

This is the reason racism is still alive today.

What do you do to celebrate this special day?
I know a lot of kids here celebrate by....studying for midterms. They start tomorrow.
Pretty festive, huh?
